OTDC offers special package for car festival

BHUBANESWAR: The State-owned Orissa Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) has announced its special package for the tourists and pilgrims for the annual car festival of Puri on July 4.

The OTDC marketing manager Alok Mishra told The Hindu that the service, launched seven years ago to facilitate a safe and comfortable darshan of the world famous rath yatra, has been in high demand among the people of the State besides the foreigners and the people coming from other Indian states. In view of the demand, special buses would ply from the State capital and western Orissa town of Sambalpur this year, he added.

The special package tour that includes transportation, refreshment and roof-top arrangement in Puri to witness the car festival costs Rs.1,350 per adult and Rs.800 per child below 10 years, Mishra informed. The bus would leave Bhubaneswar in the morning and be back in the city by 10 pm.

The bus from Sambalpur will leave for Bhubaneswar on the previous night of the festival and after a halt for refreshment at Bhubaneswar Panthnivas on July 4 morning; it would again head for Puri. The passengers would be back in Sambalpur on July 5, it was learnt. The package costs Rs.1955 per adult while for children below 10 years it would be Rs.1,395, the marketing manager added.

For booking, the manager of the transport unit in Bhubaneswar can be contacted on telephone number 0674-2431515 while the manager of the Panthanivas can be contacted on 0674-2432515 or 2432314. For booking at Sambalpur, the manager of the Panthanivas there can be contacted on 0663-2411282 or 2411296 and on mobile number 94370-82688, informed Mr. Mishra who can be contacted on mobile number 98611-26800.
