KOCHI: Helen Keller’s perspective towards life is an inspiring one for all, said Mayor Mercy Williams, inaugurating the Helen Keller Day celebration commemorating her 129th birth anniversary. Her determination to do something in life in spite of her blind and deaf status had led her to achieve much, she said at the function organised by the Kerala Federation of the Blind (KFB), district unit and the women’s forum of KFB. C. K. Aboobakar, State president of KFB, who presided over the function and gave a commemorative speech, said that it is important to know Helen Keller’s achievements to appreciate her success in an era that provided little help in terms of technology. At the function, Noble Mary Chacko, vice-president of the KFB Women’s Forum, welcomed the gathering. K. J. Varghese, president of KFB, district unit and V.J. Johny, general secretary, All Kerala Bank Employees Federation spoke. T. P. Radhamani, secretary, Women’s Forum, proposed a vote of thanks.
