KOCHI: CPI(ML) Red Flag has urged the government not to withdraw the controversial Class VII social studies textbook. P.C. Unnichekkan, secretary of CPI (ML) Red Flag, said here on Friday that attempts were on to portray the contents of the book as anti-religious and aimed at promoting Communism. He said that the United Democratic Front (UDF) was trying to gain the support of minorities ahead of the Lok Sabha elections by holding violent protests. Mr. Unnichekkan said the UDF had failed to organise any protests against the increase in fee in self-financing colleges. They should demand the appointment of an expert committee, if there were any factual errors in the textbook, he added.
