TAMBARAM: Long after an exhibition held on the premises of Tambaram Municipal Higher Secondary School in Selaiyur concluded, the equipment are yet to be removed.

Among the oldest schools in Tambaram, it was the venue of an exhibition similar to the trade fair on Island Grounds in Chennai, but on a much smaller scale.

The exhibition that opened on April 29 was timed to coincide with summer vacation and thereby attract families. It had stalls and rides, including the famous wooden well on which cars and motorcycles were operated .

Organisers’ promise

The organisers said they had obtained permission from all government agencies concerned for conducting the exhibition and said that when the fair concludes, the school premises would be left undisturbed. The exhibition came to an end earlier this month.

Long wooden poles, iron beams and sharp structures have all been arranged ready to be loaded, but are yet to be removed from the premises .

A member of the school parents teachers association pointed out that the equipment posed safety hazards to the nearly 900 students and blamed the authorities concerned for failing to ensure that the organisers removed the equipment after the exhibition.
