New time-table of railways released

HYDERABAD: A new multi-colour, railway time-table incorporating a host of user-friendly features was released here on Friday by South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager H.K Padhee. SCR has taken up the task of publishing the Southern Region time-table that will be effective July 1 2008.

The product contains train timings of services run by the South Central, Southern, South Western and Konkan Railways and apart from timings of express and passenger trains mentioned separately. It also boasts of an entire suite of passenger-related information including reservations, concessions, refund rules, compensation and claims, booking of luggage, public grievance and redressal machinery, apart from fares for regular and superfast services trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Jan Shatbdi and Garib Rath.

Replying to questions later, Mr. Padhee said patronage of MMTS local trains had witnessed a 40 per cent growth and added that two more rakes would be pressed into service in the current fiscal. The Railway Board had cleared new proposals that included installation of 75 new automated ticket vending machines across the twin cities. Under a pilot project, the board had approved a proposal to deliver rail tickets by post in Hanamkonda, he said.

Special trains

In order to clear extra rush of pilgrims going to annual Urs-e-Shareef of Hazrat Khaja Moinuddin Chisti at Ajmer, the SCR will run special trains from Hyderabad and Machilipatnam to Ajmer.

Train No. 0717 Hyderabad-Ajmer special train will leave Hyderabad at 2 p.m. on July 6 and 7 and arrive at Ajmer at 9.40 p.m. on the next day. In the return direction, train No. 0718 Ajmer-Hyderabad special train will leave Ajmer at 10 p.m. on July 11 and 12 and arrive at Hyderabad at 7.30 a.m. on the second day.

Train No. 0715 Machilipatnam-Ajmer special train will leave Machilipatnam at 9 a.m. on July 5 and reach Ajmer at 9 p.m. on the next day. In return direction, train No. 0716 Ajmer-Machilipatnam special train will leave Ajmer at 6 p.m. on July 10 and reach Machilipatnam at 9 a.m. on the second day.
