Experts to monitor projects

BANGALORE: Chief Minister B. S. Yeddyurappa on Saturday set in motion the process of drawing a vision for the time-bound development of Bangalore city through public-private partnership and bringing about co-ordination among various civic agencies regarding the city development by holding a summit on Agenda for Bengaluru Infrastructure Development (ABIDE).

Participating at the day-long summit, in which various civic agencies announced their specific plans for the development of Bangalore and heard suggestions and views of experts, residents’ associations, industry leaders and elected representatives, the Chief Minister announced that a high-level committee of experts and bureaucrats would be formed to monitor the implementation of the development projects under the ABIDE. This committee would review the progress of projects every month. He would review the implementation once in three months.

The Chief Minister said the ABIDE summit was being held as part of his Government’s promise to make Bangalore a city of global standards.

To bring about transparency. reports would be brought out every quarter. The ABIDE summit would be held every year, he said.

Scientist K. Kasturirangan was among those who participated in the ABIDE summit.
