Hopes teachers and pupil will overcome initial hiccups VISAKHAPATNAM: There might be some difficulties initially in teaching pupil of government schools in English medium, which was introduced this year. But both the teachers and pupil would accept it soon, Minister for School Education C. Damodar Rajanarasimha said here on Saturday. “Government school teachers are highly qualified and are the best. They only need some training in teaching in English medium, which we will be providing continuously. I am sure that they will deliver goods,” Mr. Rajanarasimha said while talking to reporters after releasing EdCET 2008 ranks list at Andhra University. Soft skillsHe felt that English medium was also needed as many bright pupils of the government schools needed communication skills to face competition. The Minister also wondered why teachers were not willing to teach CBSE syllabus and were ready to accept the State syllabus. “Is it right on their part to say so?” he asked, particularly when CBSE had flexibility and NCERT textbooks were being followed. Dropout rateMr. Rajanarasimha did not accept the argument that introduction of English medium would result in many dropouts. Telugu medium sections were also being run and those finding it difficult with English were switching to Telugu medium, he said.
