Under one roof: Director General of Police Raman Srivastava inaugurating a table tennis court at the Chandrasekharan Nair stadium on Friday. THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Fitness freaks in the city now have a one-stop centre where they can jog, sprint, work out in a well-equipped gymnasium, do yoga or play football, volleyball or table tennis. The Centre of Police Sports at the Chandrasekharan Nair Stadium promises all these facilities under one roof. The latest additions to the centre - a table tennis court and a yoga centre - were inaugurated on Friday evening. The new facilities add to the existing football ground, athletics track, volleyball and gymnasium located within the stadium and are primarily aimed at kindling a love for sports in children. As Vigilance director Jacob Punnoose who presided over the construction works said, “The new generation is only interested in watching sports, not in playing.” Developed by the Centre of Police Sports, the table tennis court is spacious enough to accommodate up to eight tables. The yoga classes will begin from Saturday. Director General of Police Raman Srivastava who inaugurated the facilities said that the services of the centre would be open to the public in addition to the family members of police personnel. The inaugural function was also attended by John Cherian, president of the Kerala State Table Tennis Association.
