New facility: Minister for Labour T.M. Anbasarasan (right) inaugurating a commercial complex at Santhur, near Krishnagiri, on Saturday. – Krishnagiri: The State has attracted more foreign investment since the DMK came to power. A number of multi-national companies had established their factories in the State. It had attracted Foreign Direct Investment to the tune of Rs.18, 000 crore in the last two years, said Minister for Labour, T.M. Anbarasan. Inaugurating a commercial complex at an outlay of Rs. 30 lakh at Santhur here on Saturday, he said that the present government had implemented people-oriented schemes promised during the time of election. A total of 7,000 new buses had been introduced in the State. The Minister said that a total of 1,897 families in Santhur had been identified for distribution of free colour TVs. The State Government has taken up inter-linking of Cauvery, Agniar, Koraiyar, Pambar, Vaigai and Gundar Rivers at an outlay of Rs. 360 crore. It has also allotted Rs. 7,500 crore for education in the current fiscal. A total of 34 lakh would be distributed at an estimate of Rs. 750 crore in the current year. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government has filled about 3 lakhs government vacancies so far. A total of 10,000 posts of drivers and conductors had been filled up. The Government has also enhanced the marriage assistance for beneficiaries from below poverty line families from Rs.15,000 to Rs.20,000, Mr. Anbarasan added. The Minister distributed welfare assistance to the tune of Rs. 51.08 lakh to 1,976 beneficiaries during the function. E.G. Sugavanam, MP; T. Senguttuvan, MLA; and District Revenue Officer S. Nagarajan were among those present.
