JIPMER announces seat distribution

PUDUCHERRY: The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) released the distribution of 100 seats for the MBBS course among different categories, which will be effective from the academic year 2008-2009.

According to a release, of the total 15 seats under the All India Quota, nine would be for the General category, two for Scheduled Caste, one for Schedule Tribe and three for Other Backward Classes.

Of the 26 seats for Puducherry quota, 17 would be for the General category, four for SCs and five for OBCs. The institute has allotted 18 seats for the central pool.

From the 41 open seats, 14 would be for the general category, nine for SCs, six for STs and 12 for OBCs, the release said.

JIPMER has released the list of candidates selected provisionally for admission to MBBS course, category-wise. The list is based on the ranked merit list of the JIPMER entrance examination published on June 10.

For the shorted listed orthopaedic physically challenged candidates, the counselling would be held on July 16 at 9 a.m. The counselling for selected candidates under Unreserved/Other Backward Classes/SCs/STs/Puducherry Unreserved/Puducherry Other Backward Classes/Puducherry SC categories would be on July 17 at 8 a.m., while wait listed candidates under all categories would have the counselling on July 18 at 8 a.m., the release said.
