TIRUPATI: The poor led by the CPI on Saturday planted party flags on the government land in the Vedanthapuram village near here. In a statement later the CPI leaders criticised that though the homeless have been agitating for the last two years for allotment of house sites to them in the land under question, the revenue department was putting its foot down on the plea that it is an ‘irrigation channel’. But the revenue and the police departments are now looking the other way when unathorised people have allegedly constructed compound walls and/ or put up wire-fencing.
