PERUNNA: Nair Service Society (NSS) general secretary P.K. Narayana Panicker has come down on Minister for Cooperation and Devaswom G. Sudhakaran for his ‘impolite’ references to the NSS leadership and warned the Communist Party of India (Marxist) of dire consequences. Speaking to mediapersons on the sidelines of the budget session of the society’s Prathinidhi Sabha here on Saturday, Mr. Panicker and assistant secretary G. Sukumaran Nair alleged that Mr. Sudhakaran was only a weapon in the hands of the party. In spite of repeated incidents of casting aspersions on the NSS leadership, the CPI(M) leadership has not tried to restrain Mr. Sudhakaran’s unbridled verbal offensive. The NSS had replied to all allegations raised by Mr. Sudhakaran, but he has not been able to give a factual reply to the issues raised by the NSS, he said. According to him, Mr. Sudhakaran had visited the NSS headquarters five times, twice as Minister and twice before the election. He had asked for support in the last Assembly election and the NSS had helped him. “And he had come without our invitation,” he added. He said schools under the NSS management had not decided on whether controversial contents in revised school textbooks should be taught or not.
