Funds sought

BANGALORE: Minister for Agriculture Marketing Shivaraj S. Thangadagi on Saturday said the department had sought Rs. 250 crore in the State budget for 2008-09 for establishing new markets and upgrading existing ones at some taluk and district headquarters. He told presspersons on Saturday that an order had been issued on Friday to clear Rs. 4.60 crore arrears of sugarcane growers and employees of the Gangavathi Cooperative Sugar Factory. — Special Correspondent
