Thiruvananthapuram: Six practitioners of modern medicine will receive the government’s awards for best doctors of 2007. They are Lulu Mathew, Paediatrics Professor at Government Medical College, Kozhikode in Medical Education Department category; George Varghese of Kottayam Dental College in Dental Education category; Babu Raj, holding charge of Kozhikode District Medical Officer in Health Services category; Nazimuddin, Regional Deputy Director, ESIC in that category; Paul Sebastian, Oncology Surgery Professor, Regional Cancer Centre (RCC), Thiruvananthapuram in the RCC, Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, and Local Self-Government Departments category; and John Panicker, ENT surgeon, Santwana Hospital in private medical practitioner category. Nine doctors will be honoured — M.S. Valiathan, P.K.R. Warrier, C.K. Ramachandran, Omana Mathew, Mathew Varghese, Balaraman Nair, K.V. Krishnadas, N. Balsalam and M. Krishnan Nair. — Staff Reporter
