Distribute DAP to ryots before July 4: Collector

MADURAI: Sellers of fertilizers should distribute the available stock of DAP at the prescribed prices to farmers before July 4, said the Collector, S.S. Jawahar, here on Saturday.

In a press release, Mr. Jawahar said that the unsold stock would be taken away in the forenoon of July 5 and handed over to Tamil Nadu Cooperative Marketing Federation. A vigilance cell, headed by the Collector, had been formed with officials of departments of agriculture, revenue and police, besides progressive farmers, as members, to supervise the distribution of DAP. Retail distributors of fertilizers should furnish details of DAP sold to farmers, including quantity and address of the buyer, to the vigilance cell before July 4.

Mr. Jawahar said that sale of DAP through primary agriculture cooperative societies would be taken up in the district by the TANFED from July 1.

He warned of stern action under Fertilizer (Control) Order, 1985, against those indulging in hoarding and black marketing of DAP.
