Stray incidents during Margao bandh

Special Correspondent

PANAJI: The violence-affected areas of the commercial city of Margao in south Goa were limping back to normality on Saturday evening after witnessing stray incidents of violence during a bandh on Saturday called by Hindu activist groups in response to “unwarranted police action and arrests of their activists” involved in violence on Friday evening.

The State administration, which had imposed section 144 of the Cr.PC on Friday evening to quell the communal violence which started over an alleged eve-teasing incident involving a boy and a girl from different communities, decided to continue the same till the early hours of Sunday as a precautionary measure.
