BANGALORE: STC (Bangalore) was denied an outright victory in the final league match of the SAI South Zone inter-hostel football tournament at the football stadium here on Saturday, by a dogged STC (Chennai) side which equalised with a late strike. Madhukaran scored for Bangalore while J. Suresh scored for Chennai. But Bangalore, with a record of two wins and draws, retained the title by tallying eight points in the five-team round robin league. Earlier in the day, STC (Kollam) beat Kurnool 1-0 to finish second. Jamsheel scored the winner. The standings (read as played, won, drawn, lost, goals for, goals against, points): STC (Bangalore) 4-2-2-0-7-2-8; STC (Kollam) 4-2-1-1-4-3-7; STC (Chennai) 4-1-2-1-2-3-5;STC (Calicut) 4-1-1-2-2-3-4; STC (Kurnool) 4-1-0-3-2-6-3.
