KOCHI: The Metro Film Society Kochi is bringing to its members National Award winning film Pulijanmam. The director of the film Priyanandan is no stranger to the city. He has made many a visits to the city with his films – both as director and actor in the film Sshh…Silence Please! But this time, his visit is going to be a special one. When his film Pulijanmam, based on a play by N. Prabhakaran, was adjudged Best Film for 2006, it instilled a fresh breath of life to the Malayalam film industry. The industry was already sagging under farcical ego clashes and controversies. Actor Murali, who won the national award for the title role in Priyanandanan’s Neythukaran, has rendered another class performance in the film. The film was recognised at the national level more for its candour in dealing with contemporary issues than for the unconventional narrative pattern. The film will be screened at Savitha Theatre on Sunday at 9.30 a.m. The screening will be followed by a reception to the director.
