Youth killed, four injured in separate accidents

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 27-year-old youth was killed when a tipper lorry hit his motorcycle, near Pattoor, in the city on Friday night.

The police said the accident occurred when Biju Kumar, a resident of Anayara, was proceeding in his vehicle from Pattoor to Pallimukku around 10 p.m.

The tipper lorry deployed by a construction company hit the motorcycle while coming out of the construction site of a flat. Biju Kumar, who was immediately taken to the Medical College Hospital, succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the tipper lorry escaped from the spot. The traffic police registered a case.

Four injured

Four persons travelling in an autorickshaw suffered injuries in a road accident involving the autorickshaw and two cars, near Ambalamukku, in the city around 5 p.m. on Saturday. The injured, all occupants of the autorickshaw, were taken to the Medical College Hospital.

The injured were identified as Sukumaran (auto-driver), Sarojini Amma, Ajith Rajesh and Divya Gopan. Hospital sources said the condition of Sarojini Amma was serious.

One killed

The Peroorkada police registered a case in connection with the death of Bafayeen, 62, near Amabalamukku, in the city on Friday night. The police said Bafayeen, who was assaulted by two persons around 8 p.m. at his house, died while undergoing treatment at the Government Hospital, Peroorkada.
