PDS rice seized

PUDUKOTTAI: Acting on a vital tip-off, the special squad of the Revenue Department intercepted a lorry at Kulavaipatti near here in the early hours of Saturday and seized 5,100 kg of rice worth about Rs.70,000. The District Supply Officer Kalaichelvi said that the rice, meant for public distribution, was kept in 107 bags and was transported from Tiruppatur to Alankudi near here. Sepcial Tahsildar B. Veerapandian said that the lorry used was also seized and the driver arrested.
