Nedumbassey: Conrad K. Sangma, national president of the Nationalist Youth Congress (NYC) and Minister of Finance, Meghalaya, has condemned the recent violent incidents across Kerala by the youth wings of various national parties demanding the withdrawal of the controversial textbook. He told The Hindu that the NYC was going to take up the issue after holding consultations with party leaders in the State and if anything objectionable was found in the textbook, it would be opposed but in a peaceful manner. On the reports of two different receptions given to him at the airport on his arrival, Mr. Sangma said the incident took place without his knowledge and denied the existence of factional feuds in the State unit of his party. He said those behind such incidents, created deliberately with a view to tarnish the party’s image, would not be spared. Mr. Sangma said an inquiry had been started by the party central committee and added that a local party worker had been suspended in this regard. He said Binu and Praveen Kumar were the NYC leaders at the State level.
