Rs. 50-lakh Rotary programme for schoolchildren

MANGLORE: Rotary District 3180 plans to spend Rs. 50 lakh on primary schoolchildren this year.

The newly elected district governor K. Krishna Shetty told presspersons here on Friday that the money would be used to provide drinking water, healthcare and insurance for primary schoolchildren.

Last year, 2.5 lakh children had benefited from the schemes and this year about 3 lakh children would be covered, he said. Schoolchildren in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Shimoga, Chikmaglur, Hassan, Mysore, Chamarajanagar and Kodagu districts would benefit from the schemes, he added.
