Laddu racket busted at Tirumala

TIRUMALA: In yet another major raid on Saturday, the TTD Vigilance and Security sleuths busted a laddu black marketing racket at Tirumala. This time it was Deganatham (36), in-charge at the issuing counter for Rs.5 laddu. TTD management has been issuing one laddu for every pilgrim at a subsidised price of Rs.5 against the regular price of Rs.25 per laddu.
On a tip off, the TTD assistant Vigilance and Security Officer (AVSO) Manohar laid a trap for Deganatham and caught him red-handed along with 59 laddu tokens and Rs.1000 in cash. Investigations revealed that the accused had employed two other youth under him unauthorisedly and sold each laddu token at a whopping Rs.40 to the pilgrims. The security officials also found that the accused had made moderate deposits in his account in various banks.
The accused after being produced before the Tirumala Vigilance Guard Officer (VGO) Sudhakar Rao was handed over to the police. However, the youths Chandrasekhar and Srinivas are at large.
