CHENNAI: S. Badrinath won the Bishnuram Medhi Trophy, awarded to the Cricketer of the Year, during the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association’s 78th annual day at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday. Badrinath, who is in Australia for the Emerging Players Tournament, also won the N.N. Suvarna Memorial Trophy for the highest run aggregate in the Ranji Trophy. His father accepted both the awards. TNCA president N. Srinivasan, in his welcome address, drew attention to the association’s work in “taking cricket to rural Tamil Nadu”. Chief guest K. Gnanadesikan, Secretary to Government, Finance Department, hailed the TNCA as a “leading cricket association in the country, with a great past”. — Special Correspondent
