Mumbai: Asian cricket would receive a boost with the institution of the Asian Cricket Awards to commemorate the Asian Cricket Council’s silver jubilee year. The awards will be presented at the ACC dinner in Karachi on July 5. The ACC has appointed a special committee to select the award winners at its AGM in Dubai on July 1. The Asian cricketer of the year, outstanding batsman, bowler, team in men and women’s Test and one-day cricket and the best umpire will be felicitated at the function in Karachi. The ACC has also instituted an award in the Lifetime Achievement category. Prof. Ratnakar Shetty, Chief Administrative Officer, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will attend the silver jubilee dinner. — Special Correspondent
