KOCHI: MACTA, the parent body of MACTA Federation, the union of film directors and technicians, which met here on Sunday, decided to look into the allegation that certain financial irregularities had taken place during the term of the previous executive committee. Earlier, director Vinayan was the general secretary of both the organisations. Following a feud in the federation, an ad hoc committee with N. Harikumar as chairman and Thampi Kannanthanam as general secretary took over the administration of MACTA on June 25. The meeting also decided to take steps to end the abuse of its title and logo by others. It will issue notices seeking explanation to two persons for making derogatory remarks against certain film personalities at a news conference. Explanation will be sought from the former office-bearers Vinayan and Ramachandra Babu for making a misleading statement about Sunday’s meeting. Steps would be taken to claim MACTA’s share of the levy charged by the federation on new films. Mr. Harikumar presided over the meeting which was attended by 123 members.
