Haryana roads to be upgraded: Hooda

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has said that 1560 km long roads would be carpeted and upgraded by the Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board at a cost of Rs.500 crore during the current financial year.

The Chief Minister was addressing a gathering after inaugurating sports complex constructed at a cost of Rs.50 lakh at village Silakheri 30 kms from Jind .

He said that 158 rural stadia were being constructed in the State by Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board and out of these 50 such rural stadia had already been constructed and remaining would be constructed within next six months.

He said that work on improvement of 1200 kms long roads was in progress.

He said that a new concept of developing Agro Mall had been adopted by the Marketing Board and the foundation stone of a Agro Mall had already been laid by him at Panchkula.

He said that the main aim of constructing the rural stadia was to groom the promising players in the villages and give ample opportunities to the budding players to exhibit their talent.

He said that by adopting sports in life, new constructive approach would develop among the youth.

Meanwhile, Mr. Hooda assured the farmers that like the last year the State Government would take care of the irrigational and electricity requirements of the farming community during this paddy season.

“The government will not hesitate to buy electricity at higher rates from other sources to supply it to the farmers,” he said while addressing a largely attended public meeting at Pillu Khera mandi in district Jind.

The State Government had slashed the prices of diesel to benefit the common consumers particularly farmers, he said and added that the price of diesel in Haryana was the lowest in the country.- PTI
