BHOPAL: Private passenger buses in Madhya Pradesh have gone on an indefinite strike in protest against three tier taxation system and rise in fuel prices. Madhya Pradesh Contract Bus Owners Association also demanded to increase bus fares and went on an indefinite strike from Sunday after observing a day-long token strike causing hardship to the large number of passengers, said sources. The association spokesman Shyamsundar Sharma said that they will not compromise with the government till their demands are met. The strike has affected bus operations in all the major cities of the State including Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur among others , he said. Appeal to end stirMeanwhile Madhya Pradesh Transport Miniser Himmat Kothari has appealed to the Bus operators of various regions of the State not to resort to strike. The Transport Minister said that the state government is fully seized of the situation arising out of diesel price hike. The state government is contemplating increase in bus fares and a decision on it would be taken soon. - PTI
