Govt. fillip for inter-caste marriages

Chandigarh: Couples opting for an inter-caste marriage in Haryana will now be given an incentive of Rs.50,000 by the State Government.

An official release recently said that beneficiaries of the incentive scheme must be residents of the State and either the bride or the groom must belong to the Scheduled Castes category. Among the first to receive the award are Veer Singh and Renu of Bachod village in Mahendargarh district, Deputy Commissioner, Narnaul Amneet P. Kumar said. Applicants must submit a form to avail of the scheme in a year’s time.
