Staff Reporter

The youth claims he is adopted son of Sonia

BERHAMPUR: One Laxmi Narayan has alleged been trying to cheat gullible girls and families in rural areas of Ganjam district posing himself as the adopted son of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi through matrimonial advertisements.

The Congress leaders have demanded immediate tracking down and arrest of the miscreant.

All Congressmen were startled when they came across advertisements posted by the youth, who claimed to be the adopted son of the UPA Chairperson in an Oriya newspaper on Sunday. When contacted the phone number 9938821389 given in the advertisement, the youth claimed that many parents of eligible girls had already contacted him and had no doubts of his credentials.

He also claimed to be an M.Tech, who wanted an MBBS girl as bride.

Mischief

Union Minister of State for Rural Development Chandrasekhar Sahu said it may be an intentional mischief of political rivals to demean the image of the party in rural areas as the youth claimed him to be from Aska in Ganjam district. Senior Congress leader Chittaranjan Dash said such mischief should not be taken lightly by the police as any lowly act of this miscreant would be aimed at the national party and its top leader. Pradesh Congress Committee member Bikram Panda said they would press the district police to nab the cheat before he dupes anyone in the name of a top leader and the Congress party.

When contacted Ganjam Superintendent of Police Nitinjit Singh said no complaint of cheating had been lodged in relation to the advertisement till now. But Mr Dash said it was the duty of the police to take up the matter suo motu and track down the culprit.
