‘Introduce KSRTC buses’

Sir, — People who travel regularly between Mangalore and Karkala, especially students and daily wage workers, are being put to hardship as only private buses are plying on this route. It will be convenient for the people in rural areas if the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation introduces two or three trips on the Mangalore-Karkala (via Moodbidri) and Karkala-Belthangady routes. I request the Minister for Transport to take action in this regard.

Sir, — All these years, the people of Mangalore have suffered a lot owing to Malaria. Now, chikungunya has been causing panic among them. The preventive steps initiated by the administration have not yielded the expected results. The disease first appeared in Chennai and travelled to Kerala from where it entered Dakshina Kannada district.

Finding that homoeopathic medicines are effective, the demand for those medicines has increased. The Health Department should take effective steps to check the disease from spreading.

Sir, — Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation buses starting from Kumaraswamy Layout and ISRO Layout,

after plying through the diverted route till Banashankari, should enter Subramanya Road and travel through

the 9th Main too. At present, commuters at Arab Nagar, Kaveri Nagar and Monotype Bus Stop are deprived

of public transport and are

put to inconvenience. The authorities should take

action at the earliest.

Sir, — There is a need to introduce bus services between Andhrahalli and Kempe Gowda Bus Stand, Thigalarapalya and Kempe Gowda Bus Stand, K.R. Market and Herohalli Cross and vice-versa, but not through Thunganagara, as people have to pay higher fares on that route. It is learnt that bus fares are going to be increased shortly. In view of this, it should be kept in mind that the poor should be spared of such burden.

Sir,— We have made several representations to the authorities for the creation of a parking facility in front of the Jayanagar head post office, but without success. At present the vehicles are parked on the main road.

We are afraid that this may result in accidents as the traffic on the 11th Main Road, Jayanagar, has increased. It is hoped that parking arrangements will be made soon.

Sir,— In its report to the Karnataka High Court, the Forest Department desired that lakes should be declared as “natural reserves”.

The private developer of Nagawara lake has barricaded the lake on all sides with tin sheets with the result that even a distant view of the lake is impossible.
