New GO termed a boon
Government Order No. 18 issued on Saturday is a boon to backward classes (BC) students who are interested in pursuing professional courses, according to Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee executive member Kolanukonda Sivaji.
He said with just a caste certificate students could get admitted into engineering, medicine, MBA, MCA and post-graduate courses without having to pay the admission fee.
He said no Government had taken such a decision in favour of the BCs since the inception of the State, he said in a statement here on Sunday.
He said the ceiling of income for eligibility to get benefits under the various welfare schemes had been increased from Rs. 44,500 to Rs. 1 lakh by the government.
