PUDUCHERRY: Students of Achariya Siksha Mandir interacted with 23 students from Christ Church Secondary School, Singapore, as part of an exchange programme, on June 20 and 21. According to a press release, the purpose of the visit was to get to know each other through fun and play. The meet facilitated sharing of learning experiences, forging friendships and first-hand knowledge of schools. The students from Singapore were accompanied by four teachers and were introduced to the power teaching methods at Achariya Siksha Mandir. The teachers from Singapore on the other hand introduced their methods of teaching maths, food and nutrition to students of Achariya Siksha Mandir. Judo championshipS. Sankar, a student of Class VIII of Amalorpavam Higher Secondary School, participated in the State Judo Championship held at Sri Saibaba English School in the below 40 kg cadre and won the second place. Farewell partyAt Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School, a farewell party was organised for outgoing principal Fr. Stanley Ignatius. An inaugural session was held for the literary associations of the school. The students exhibited their talents through song and skit. The Science Club for the academic year was inaugurated on June 21. Prizes galoreStudents of St. Joseph of Cluny Higher Secondary School bagged a number of awards in several competitions. M. Poornima of Standard VII received the best child award, “Ilang Kalai Selvi”, on June 22 for her outstanding performance in drama and acting. V. Vedhaprabha of Standard VI won the second prize in a dance competition conducted by Annai Kalai Koodam. V. Anuvarshni of Standard VI secured the eight place in the Adore Society Chess Tournament in the under-13 category. Students of St. Patrick School Matriculation School won prizes in the 11th State Ranking Table Tennis Tournament organised by Petit Seminaire Table Tennis Club. V. Saravanan of Standard VII emerged as the winner in the non-medallist and boys cadet categories and J. Mary Joseline of Standard IX was runner-up in sub-junior level. While M. Vinothini of Class X was runner-up in junior level and won in the women’s category, K. Vignesh of Class IV was runner-up in the boys mini cadet category. G. Sneha, a Class IV student of Alpha Matriculation Higher Secondary School, received the Bharathi Yuva Kendra Award from Bharathi Yuva Kendra Association for her outstanding performance in chess. She will take part in the Asian Championship to be held on July 15 at Philippines.
