PANIC–STRICKEN: Motorists line up at a petrol bunk in Puducherry on Monday.

PUDUCHERRY: The Pondicherry Goods Lorry Owners and Booking Agents Association would go on an indefinite strike from July 2 to demand uniform diesel price across the country.

The association in a release on Monday said the government should take steps to ensure the availability of ordinary diesel without any shortage.

It condemned the move of the oil corporation to create a shortage of ordinary petrol and sell the high-priced speed diesel, high speed diesel and turbojet diesel.

Fearing shortage of fuel due to the proposed strike, a large number of motorists thronged petrol bunks in the town.

The outlets witnessed serpentine queues of customers causing traffic congestion at various places in the town.
