Safiya case: police to announce findings soon

Staff Reporter

KASARAGOD: The investigation by the Crime Branch of the State police into the disappearance of Safiya, a 14-year-old maid servant, has reached a watershed with Crime Branch SP K.P Philip informing mediapersons here that the police would announce the findings of the investigation in a few days.

The police hinted that they had unravelled the mystery behind the disappearance of the girl who had been working as a domestic help at the home of Hamsa, a native of Masthikund in the district. While Mr. Hamsa maintained that Ms. Safiya disappeared from his home at Mastikund, the parents of Ms. Safiya said that she might have gone missing from Mr. Hamsa’s home in Goa.

Meanwhile, police sources indicated that the current Crime Branch investigations had revealed that Ms. Saifya had been killed.
