KARIMNAGAR: The ambitious Rajiv Arogyasri health insurance scheme in Karimnagar district has helped perform 1,386 surgeries including 590 heart surgeries in various corporate hospitals. The Arogyasri scheme was launched in April this year and conducted 103 medical camps, screened 23,034 patients and referred around 4,000 patients. Out of them 1,386 patients were treated of their diseases by performing surgeries. Hospitals have been paid Rs. 7.5 crore for performing surgeries. According to Arogyasri district coordinator N. Anjaneyulu, the government was planning to announce Arogyasri-2 from July 17 in the State to provide more facilities to card holders. He said there were plans to include the distribution of artificial limbs and aids to physically-challenged people.
