This Day That Age
Miss Fatima Jinnah said in Karachi on June 28, that the progress of Pakistan towards a “fully democratic State” has been dogged by elements and forces, who neither participated in the struggle for Pakistan nor had any faith in the idealism which inspired that struggle. In an Id day message, Miss Jinnah, sister of the founder of Pakistan, Mr. M.A. Jinnah, said: “By a tragic combination of circumstances, the country’s destiny fell into the hands of elements who have done their worst to stifle people’s urge for progress and brought the country down to its present state of misery and frustration. This sorry plight has been the direct result of the scramble for pelf and power, ignoring all vital national interests and all principles of ethical and political rectitude.”
