Devotees going to car festival likely to face trouble Trains to resume after reviewing the situation BHUBANESWAR: The fears of many passengers have finally come true. The East Coast Railway (ECoR) on Monday said that the train services passing through Orissa and West Bengal border, which was earlier cancelled till June 30, could not be restored till July 3. A major section of devotees who take trains on this route towards Puri for the world famous ‘car festival’ will face a tough time. The car festival is scheduled to be celebrated on July 4. An ECoR release said that due to incessant rain in the northern Orissa and West Bengal, which caused breaches between Bakhrabad – Narayangarh – Contai Road in Balasore- Kharagpur section under South Eastern Railway, train services in ECoR jurisdiction were cancelled, diverted and short terminated. Majority of trains would now take Cuttack – Angul - Sambalpur City – Jharsuguda - Kharagpur route via Vizianagaram - Singapur Road-Sambalpur and Jharsuguda up to July 3. “The train operations schedule given earlier for cancellation, diversion and short-termination of trains up to June 30 has been extended up to July 3, as per decision of the Ministry of Railways,” the release said. It said further decision on resumption of train services would be communicated after reviewing the situation.
