Woman ‘assaulted’ by husband, friends

NEW DELHI: A woman was allegedly beaten up by her husband and some of his friends at Prashant Vihar here. The victim, who has been admitted to Saroj Hospital, alleged that she was being tortured for dowry.
The incident took place when Gaurav, husband of the woman, and his friends allegedly tried to break the lock of the house where she lived when she was away.
The woman rushed home and an altercation broke out between them, following which Gaurav and his accomplices allegedly beat her up.
The woman alleged that they made her consume some substance after which she lost consciousness.
Based on her complaint alleging that Gaurav was torturing her for dowry, the Prashant Vihar police have registered a case and are verifying her statement.
