CHAMARAJANAGAR: Minister for Food and Civil Supplies and district in charge Halappa has said that priority will be accorded to filling vacant posts in various departments in Chamarajanagar district. Addressing the presspersons after a Karnataka Development Programme meeting here on Monday, he said that the progress of Education Department in the district was poor compare to that of other departments.
Mr. Halappa said that he would shortly call a meeting of teacher’s associations, block resource persons, block education officers and officers at the Cluster Development Centre and discuss steps to improve SSLC and PU examination results in the district. The Minor Irrigation Department building at Hoogyam would be handed over to the Backward Classes and Minorities Department to facilitate running of Moorarji Residential School. A plea would be made in the Assembly to fill 40 per cent of the vacancies, he said. The Deputy Commissioner had been instructed to be vigilant about the sale of fertilizers in the black market. Steps would be taken to distribute relief to cane growers within 15 days, and also 16,376 Below Poverty Line cards in the district, he added.
