Ranchi: A Deputy Superintendent and two constables were killed and three injured when Maoists triggered a landmine blast on the Tamar-Pundi road bridge near here on Monday.

The police personnel led by DSP Pramod Kumar Sinha were on their way to conduct raids at Lungtu, DIG R.K. Mullick said.

The blast sent the police Gypsy tossing up. The injured constables were taken to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences.

Additional reinforcements have been rushed to launch a combing operation in the naxal-affected areas in Bundu. According to police sources, Mr. Sinha was the third officer in the DSP-rank to die in naxal attacks in the past eight years. — PTI
