Office-bearers installed

The installation ceremony of office bearers of St. Joseph’s Anglo Indian Girls Higher Secondary School was held recently.

Divisional Commissioner, Railway Protection Force, S.R. Gandhi presided over the function. Correspondent Sr. Evangeline, Headmistress Sr. Mangala Mary and Assistant Headmistress Sr. Reeta Roselin spoke.

S.A. Asma Afreen was elected as the school pupil leader and Manochitra as assistant school pupil leader, L. Caroline Sylvia as high school pupil leader, J. Sowmya as middle school pupil leader and S. Shruthi as primary school pupil leader.

A. Ayesha was elected as captain of the Red House, E. Vithiya Praneetha as captain of Blue House, Mariselle Gomz as Green House captain and M. Swarupa as Yellow House captain.

Shiny Mathaline was elected as sports minister, J. Rhemapriya as interschool activity minister, C. Aparna Devi as education minister, J. Swarnalatha as disciplinary minister, J. Miriam Jessica as health and hygiene minister, Moushinkka as planning minister, S. Niveditha as welfare minister, R.K. Monicka Reshma as cultural minister and Akshaya P. Sachin as finance minister.

Father’s Day celebrated

Father’s Day was celebrated at ARK Vidhya Jothi Vikhas Higher Secondary School. Students spoke about the key role played by a father in shaping up the future of his children.

A poetry writing competition was also conducted on the topic ‘My Father’ for the students of Standard IV to XI. D. Harish and B. Monica, both Std. IV students, V. Dwarkanath and M. Aparna, both Std. VI students, A. Haritha Std. VIII, G. Ni ranjan Std. IX, A . Sriram and P. Karthikeyan, both Std. XI students emerged winners. Correspondent A. Rajaram, Principal G. Rajalakshmi and Vice-Principal P. Devaki Chellaiah commended the students.

Motivation programme

Dawn ’08, a students motivation programme was conducted at SRV Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Samayapuram.

Professor Ku. Gnanasambandam was the chief guest for the programme. School president A. Ramasamy presided.

In his address Mr. Gnanasambandam urged the students to work hard to achieve their goals. He also advised the students to aim big.

Former Vice-Principal of St. Joseph’s College Prof. G. Balakrishnan and School secretary P. Swaminathan spoke.

School Principal K. Thulasithasan, Vice-president M. Kumaravel, Treasurer S. Selvarajan and Joint Secretary B. Satya Moorthy were present on the occasion.

Chess tourney conducted

The district-level chess tournament, organised by the Aaron Chess Academy, saw participation of large number of school students.

The two-day tournament was conducted at Cauvery Matriculation Higher Secondary School in different age categories for boys and girls.

In the boys’ section, S. Aravind Kumar of SBIOA Matriculation School won the under-15 title, while P. Ranjith Kumar of RSK HSS clinched the under-13 crown.

P.L. Subramanian of Alpha MHSS, R. Pratish Srimen of Sri Akilandeswari Vidhyalaya and A. Sriram of RSK HSS bagged the under 11, 9 and 7 titles respectively. In the girls’ category, J. Vaishnavi of Sri Akilandeswari Vidhyalaya won the under-15 title, while N. Akilandeswari of Infant Jesus Matriculation School clinched the under-13 crown.

Pricilla Valan of St. Joseph’s AI GHSS, R. Abirami of Vageesha Vidyashram and R. Atzoeyya Harini of Montfort School bagged the under-11, 9 and 7 titles respectively.

Investiture ceremony

A colourful investiture ceremony was held at the Montfort School, Kattur, recently.

The school pupil leaders, assistant school pupil leaders, president and secretary of the literary and debate association, the house captains and vice-captains of the Gabriel House, Bosco House and Montfort House were installed.

The Principal of the Campion Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School Rev. Bro. J. Jesuraj presided over the function.

The Principal of Montfort School Rev. Bro. Mariannan administered oath to the newly elected students.

Enrolment rally

A students’ enrolment rally was conducted by the Corporation Elementary School, Sengulam Colony, Mannarpuram, recently.

Municipal Councillor S. Balamurugan inaugurated the rally in the presence of the Headmistress of the school R. Vijayalakshmi and PTA president V. Chellammal.

A large number of students took part in the rally.
