TIRUCHI: Commissioner of Municipal Administration Niranjan Mardi inspected the progress of development works being executed in Tiruchi and Manapparai on Saturday. Dr. Mardi inspected the newly-built sewage pumping stations near the Anna Stadium and at Vasudevan Street in Thiruvanaikovil as part of the underground drainage scheme that was commissioned recently and the construction of a gasifier-based crematorium at Karumandapam, sanctioned at a cost of Rs.56 lakh. He also evaluated the tourism development works sanctioned for Srirangam and the expanded Central Bus Stand in the City. At Singarathope, he reviewed the Corporation’s plan to construct a commercial complex at the Yanaikulam ground at a cost of Rs.7.68 crore. At Manapparai, he inspected the construction of road bridges at Vellakal and Sevalur at a cost of Rs.229 crore under the Urban Infrastructure Development Scheme for Small and Medium Towns and directed the officials to expedite the works. He also visited the site for the construction of the Municipal Office at Manapparai. Regional Director of Municipal Administration Thandapani and Tiruchi Corporation Commissioner T.T.Balsamy accompanied Mr.Mardi.
