Pranab, Amar Singh meet

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh held talks with External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee on the Indo-U.S. nuclear deal here on Monday night.

During the meeting at the residence of Mr. Mukherjee, the government’s pointman for the deal, Mr. Singh was briefed about the deal and the steps India would have to take in the coming weeks to push it through.

The meeting came soon after Mr. Singh, whose party’s 39 MPs can play a crucial role in helping the government if the Left parties withdraw support, appeared to signal that it was not averse to doing business with the Congress. — PTI
