Visakhapatnam retains title

VISAKHAPATNAM: P. Trinath scored an unbeaten 108 and Brahmananda Reddy finished with match figures of 10 for 23 as Visakhapatnam defeated Vizianagaram by an innings and 179 runs in the round-robin match to retain the P.V. Krishnamurthy Raju Trophy in the ACA North Zone inter-district under-22 tournament at Kakinada on Monday.

Srikakulam took the second place thanks to the first-innings lead it gained over East Godavari.

The scores:

Vizianagaram 76 and 53 in 47 overs (Brahmananda Reddy four for seven) lost to Visakhapatnam 308 for eight decl. in 82 overs (P. Trinath 108 n.o., J.T. Yadav 94, G. Appanna 48 n.o., Kranthi Kumar 46).

East Godavari 119 and 210 for eight decl. in 53.3 overs (Ch.Y.V. Krishna 76, P. Raghu 52) drew with Srikakulam 124 and 185 for nine in 45 overs (M.S. Deepak Kumar 71, K. Ravi Shankar four for 21). — Special Correspondent
