ICICI-YSCA Trophy: India Cements enters super league

CHENNAI: India Cements entered the super league with a 48-run win over RKM Vivekananda College in the all-India ICICI-YSCA Trophy cricket tournament held here.

The other teams to enter the super league are SBT Thiruvananthapuram, Rail Wheel Factory and Indian Bank.

On Sunday, Precision Infomatics entered the super league with a four-wicket win over Loyola College ‘A’.

The scores: India Cements 191 for six in 30 overs (K.B.Arun Karthik 58, S. Sureshkumar 52) bt RKM Vivekananda College 143 in 27.3 overs (V. Malthiv Rangarajan 40, R. Ashwin four for 30, V. Arunkumar five for 14).

Indian Bank 136 for nine in 30 overs bt BPCL-KRL 127 for eight in 30 overs (D. Fadil 51).

Nuware Systems 136 for eight in 30 overs lost to Rail wheel factory 137 for four in 21.4 overs (Shoaib Manager 51, Challva Raj 44 not out).

SBT (Thiruvananthapuram) 166 for six in 30 overs (Abhishek Hegde 67, A. Vivek four for 40) bt Adambakkam 140 for nine in 30 overs (Vinod four for 19).

Sunny CC 169 in 24.2 overs (Anthony Das 84, Unni Krishnan four for 34) lost to Magnet CC 174 for five in 23.4 overs (B. Pratheep 71).

Indian Bank 181 for seven in 30 overs (Wilkins Victor 59, S. Avaikarasan four for 39) bt Loyola College ‘B’ 103 in 25.1 overs (Wilkins Victor four for nine).

Arihant Pharmaceuticals 73 in 17.1 overs (S. Anbazhagan six for 28) lost to Magnet CC 78 for two in 9.2 overs (B. Pratheep 45 n.o.).

Loyola College ‘A’ 181 in 29.4 overs (J. Gowjith Subash 49, M.P. Rajesh four for 45) lost to Precision Infomatic 182 for six in 29.1 overs (M.P. Rajesh 47).

Ganesh scalps six

R. Ganesh’s six for 21 was instrumental in YSCA XI’s 40-run win over i-Soft in the SSI-YSCA Trophy cricket tournament here.

However, Venkat’s effort (six for 20) effort went in vain as i-Flex lost to Accenture by 14 runs.

The scores: Accenture 138 in 29.5 overs (Venkat six for 20) bt i-Flex 124 in 26.2 overs; YSCA XI 133 for seven in 20 overs (N. Satheesh 58) bt iSOFT 93 in 19.3 overs (R. Ganesh six for 21); Ashok Leyland (Ennore) 159 for nine in 30 overs (B. Lokesh 58) lost to i-Flex 160 for four in 26.1 overs (Vasudevan 61 n.o.)

Inter-school tournament

Reddy’s Cricket Academy will conduct an inter-School knock-out tournament at Reddy’s ground, Selaiyur, from July 9 to 27.

The tournament is open to all the Schools located in Kancheepuram district only.

The players should be studying in 9th standard or below. The matches are of 25 overs and will be played on weekdays. For details, contact P. Ravindra Babu, Organising Secretary, ph: 9962142416. Entries close on July 7.

Abhishek and Mohan Babu shine

Abhishek Mehra (116) and Mohan Babu (74 & four for 48) enabled Chettinad Vidyashram beat Vidya Mandir by 57 runs in the Sumeru Soft inter-school under-16 cricket tournament being held here.

The scores: Jawahar Vidyalaya 36 in 39 overs (Ganga Sridhar Raju three for five) lost to Santhome HSS 40 for no loss in seven overs (Ganga Sridhar Raju 26 n.o.); Chettinad Vidyashram 287 for seven in 50 overs (Abhishek Mehra 116, Mohan Babu 74, Rohan Shah four for 44) bt Vidya Mandir 230 in 43.4 overs (C. Avinash 40, L.S. Vedanth 70, Mohan Babu four for 48).

Inter-District u-22 tournament

The TNCA inter-District U-22 tournament will get underway at two centres — Theni and Nagapattinam — on Tuesday and at five more centres — Dindigul, Coimbatore, Karaikudi, Cuddalore, and Kanyakumari — on Wednesday.

The 30 participating teams have been divided into seven zones (two zones of five teams each and the rest with four teams each) for the league phase (first stage).
