Two Parliamentary Secretaries appointed

BANGALORE: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Monday commenced the political appointments to various posts and boards and corporations by appointing Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs A. Ramdas and C.C. Patil as Parliamentary Secretaries to him.
The Chief Minister is also learnt to have created a new department of NRI Cell and Foreign Investments. BJP MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik is said to have been appointed co-ordinator for this.
Police officer-turned-politician Subhash Bharani, who joined the BJP just before the elections, is said to have been appointed the State’s representative in Delhi.
Party leader G.T. Deve Gowda, who left the Janata Dal (Secular) to join the BJP, is said to have been appointed chairman of the Karnataka Housing Board.
Party MLA A. Narayanaswamy, who was reportedly upset for not getting a ministerial berth, is reportedly appointed chairman of the Karnataka Slum Clearance Board.
The Parliamentary Secretaries will have the status of a Cabinet Minister. Mr. Ramdas will take oath as Parliamentary Secretary on Tuesday at the Banquet Hall of Vidhana Soudha. According to sources, Mr. Ramadas is likely to be given the specific responsibility of monitoring the implementation of programmes of various departments.
