Action sought against builder

Staff Reporter

‘He violated the plan sanctioned by the authorities’

Builder accused of wiping out deposit amount received from owners

Builder denies charges, says rules not violated

Bangalore: Hundreds of residents of a luxury apartment complex on Sarjapur Road on Monday held a demonstration in front of the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) demanding action against their builder for allegedly violating the plan sanctioned by the authorities.

The residents, under the banner of Springfields Welfare Association, submitted memorandum to the Commissioners of the BDA and Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike urging them to initiate action against the builder — IDEB Constructions Projects and the Parkway Developments.

The memorandum, submitted by association president Raj Ramchandani, and other residents of Springfields Apartment, alleged that “the builder has also wiped out entire deposit amount received from owners, which rightfully should have been handed over to the association as per the agreement.”

The residents alleged that the authorities have turned a blind eye to various violations by the builder. The residents also warned the authorities that they would be compelled to approach the Lokayukta and the High Court if they failed to take proper action and provide all the information with regard to the project.

Builder denies

However, in a statement, Brigadier M.K.G. Menon, Head, IDEB Property Management Services, has denied the allegations and said that they have not violated any rules in construction of the building. “The amount received from the buyers is 100 per cent intact and accounted for. There has been no wipe out of funds as alleged by the residents,” the statement said adding that Parkway Development is the builder of the apartment and not the IDEB Projects.

“In fact, some of the purchasers are yet to pay the amount as per the signed agreements. It is the developer who has borne the expenses of maintenance for over two years. All the owners are happy with the builders. This is the work of some mischievous elements, who are trying to incite others for personal gains,” the statement said.
