Applications invited for setting up motels

VIRUDHUNAGAR: The Department of Tourism has invited applications from private entrepreneurs to establish motels on State and National Highways.

In a statement, the Collector, V. Chandrasekaran, said that further details on the issue could be obtained from the Tourism Officer, District Toursim Office, 1, West Veli Street, Madurai-1. The phone number is 0452-2334757.

The eatery buildings measuring 600 square feet with 30-seats on NHs should be set up 20 cents of land. The motels should have gift article shop, public telephone and Net facilities, four pay and use toilets and two bathrooms and a urinal for men.

The parking space should be sufficient for eight cars. The minimum investment for the project (excluding the land) should be Rs.25 lakh. Along with the eatery and gift article shop, the motels on State highways should have three pay and use toilets, and parking space for a minimum of four cars. The minimum investment (excluding the land) should be Rs.17.5 lakh.
