New Delhi: Three youths were arrested in the Capital following inputs provided by stakeholders of the Delhi Police’s “Eyes and Ears” scheme that they were allegedly running an extortion racket. Nijam (19), Javed (25) and Gajendra (20) were arrested from Mori Gate on Sunday which led to the solving of a case of extortion in which they allegedly extorted Rs.25,000 from some passengers, police said on Monday. The trio had allegedly threatened Gunnur Paswan and some of his friends, who belong to Bihar’s Samastipur, and took away the money on June 23. In his complaint, Paswan said that he was working as a domestic help in Ghaziabad. He and five others were going back to their village after they received their salaries. They took an auto rickshaw from ISBT Kashmere Gate to New Delhi Railway Station, police said adding that the driver told them that checking was going on in the area due to Independence Day security drill and they should offer all their belongings for frisking. He took them to a place near Mori Gate where three persons were present who asked them to get their belongings checked, they said.
